This is because they cannot withstand high wind loads, for example, and are often irreparably damaged if they are not dismantled and stored away in time. Permanently weatherproof thanks to sturdy material and high-quality surface coating
When you purchase a genuine luxury gazebo, you are getting a product that is designed for permanent outdoor use and can withstand all weather conditions. While this may not apply to all optional accessories, the gazebo itself is usually designed for permanent installation and therefore does not need to be dismantled for the winter. This opens up completely different possibilities for use than with a low-cost discount model, whose frame is made only of plastic or thin steel or aluminium tubes that could bend under excessive load. The significantly higher price is therefore entirely justified for a genuine luxury gazebo made of sturdy metal.
Luxury garden gazebo with tiled floor
Not every garden gazebo should be placed on the lawn. Depending on the size of the gazebo and your design, usage and furnishing plans, floor tiles may be the ideal solution. A floor in warm terracotta colours and brown, elegant black, anthracite and white, or magnificent mosaic style harmonises beautifully with the surrounding nature in the garden. It also provides a level and safe surface for garden furniture and prevents the ground from becoming wet, root-covered or muddy. However, certain rules must be followed when laying tiles in the garden to ensure that the luxurious floor lasts for a long time. As the soil is damp and even a densely covered luxury pavilion does not completely protect against wind and rain, the floor must be protected all around against water penetration. If this is not done carefully, it won’t be long before the first frost damage occurs, as seeped water expands when it freezes and breaks the tiles. If you are laying tiles under the pavilion, you should also think about possible lighting beforehand so that you can hide cables under the floor and in the ground. Thanks to the stable subfloor, you can also easily use your garden gazebo as a party tent.
Laying frost-proof garden tiles
Protecting the underside requires the most work. Party tents and tiled floors need a concrete slab as a foundation, which can be laid on pond liner for additional waterproofing. A slope of at least two per cent and a drainage layer prevent waterlogging. Once the substructure is in place, the tiles are laid with a notched trowel and flexible adhesive and carefully grouted. A specialist company can provide further tips on building up layers of frost-resistant substrates and recommend suitable screeds, fillers, mortars and joint seals for the desired location.
The mosaic trick
If a mosaic floor is planned for an oriental or Mediterranean luxury pavilion, either square tiles with an integrated mosaic pattern or genuine mosaic work can be used. In classic button mosaics from tile shops, the small elements, which are round or polygonal, are connected by a net. Water can penetrate these threads during installation and then remain trapped inside, while ceramic and tile mortar drain water to the outside as they dry. So if you want to use button mosaic, you should remove the stoneware elements and press them individually into the flexible adhesive; this is the only way to make them frost-proof.
